Sheffield Bricktropolis is back!

Are you ready for Sheffield to be transformed into a city of Lego bricks again this summer? We are so excited about Sheffield Bricktropolis, which will be taking place in the city centre between 17th -30th August and has been brought to you by the fab team at Sheffield BID!

One of the fantastic activities on offer is the Sheffield Bricktropolis Trail. Building on the success of the World landmarks trail last year, this summer sees a new space trail join the Bricktropolis programme. Expect to see aliens, astronauts, space rockets and much more!

The good news is that children and young people who have a Passport to Learning will be able to collect CU credits for taking part in this trail by filling out our special activity sheet and returning it to the Sheffield CU Team! There are 3 CU credits on offer for every child who takes part in the trail AND completes the Sheffield CU activity sheet! Trail maps are available now at Sheffield BID’s Unit 1 next to the Winter Garden on Surrey Street (open 10am to 6pm Monday – Saturday (7pm Thursdays) and 11am to 4pm Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday). Please be aware that you MUST complete the Sheffield CU activity sheet in full as well as take part in the trail to earn CU credits. This MUST be returned via post to the Sheffield CU team to be awarded credits.

The Sheffield CU Summer Passport Activity newsletter 2019 - Our BIGGEST newsletter yet!

Are you looking for some summer fun? Well look no further! The Sheffield Children's University Passport to Learning newsletter which includes details of activities happening across Sheffield during the summer holidays is now available!

As well as our fantastic FREE Festival of Fun, our Learning Destinations are also delivering lots of fabulous activities right through the summer, where you can collect CU credits. This is our biggest EVER newsletter, packed full of exciting activities so make sure you check it out!

Children and young people who take along a Passport to Learning to all the activities listed in the newsletter will be able to earn additional CU credits at these activities. Festival of Fun 2019 - FREE activities with a Passport to Learning

We are thrilled to announce that the CU Festival of Fun which features FREE activities right across the city delivered in the run up to and at the start of the summer holidays is BACK, and BIGGER and BETTER than ever!

There are over 40 activities planned for the summer festival including a treasure hunt at Sheffield Hallam University, outdoor theatre, roller hockey, dance, arts and crafts, circus skills, music, fire station visits, martial arts, climbing, gaming and performing arts and much more! Activities and taster sessions are for reception age children upwards, and some are aimed at families taking part together, as well as some activities that are specifically designed for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and are delivered by specially training staff.


The activities will be FREE to Sheffield children who have a CU Passport to Learning. Not got yours yet? Don’t panic – you can buy one from Sheffield libraries for just £3.50 each for Festival of Fun and then use it at Learning Destinations across the city moving forward!

Many of the activities require booking in advance so families will need to contact the Learning Destinations directly, using the details on the leaflet. However, to give everyone a fair chance, booking will OPEN ON 15th JULY and no bookings will be taken before this date.

British Science Week 2019 - Part 3!

Wow, we're spoiling you now! We're thrilled to announce yet another fantastic FREE Science Week activity where you can collect CU credits!

The University of Sheffield Discovery Night is back on Friday 15th March 4pm - 8pm with an evening of free, fun science activities. There will be be liquid nitrogen demonstrations, edible experiments, magical maths, microscopes, psychology games, lasers, quantum computing, orthoptics, a teddy bears' dental surgery and much more! Plenty of opportunities to put on a lab coat and have a go yourself. 

Make sure you take along your CU passport to collect credits too! No need to book, just turn up. Recommended age 5 and upwards.

British Science Week 2019 - part 2!

Good news! There is even more FREE science themed activity taking place as part of British Science Week where you can collect CU credits in your Passport to Learning!

We are really pleased to announce the return of Science Alive for 2019 which will take place on Saturday 9th March at Weston Park Museum between 10am and 4pm. This will be a jam packed day filled with fun, interactive, educational and FREE science themed activities such as the popular teddy bear hospital, building a finger and smashing chocolate too!
